At the Kaeo-Kerikeri Union Parish
We are People called “Church” and we are a Place
– two places in fact –
for you to make yourself at home.
- Community space with a spiritual heart.
- People to belong with.
- Facilities to hire for your event and feel at home in.
Brother, Sister, Let Me Serve You
This is our vision as church – as the people who gather in the name of Christ and try to live as disciples of Christ. “Brother, sister, let me serve you” is a theme song for us. With also the line:
“pray that I may have the grace to let you be my servant too.”
In church and community, we encounter Christ in people and in the world around us.
The door is open to all who would like to be touched by the Spirit of God in a way that connects with them.
Newcomers have commented on the love that has welcomed them, just as they are. We know this is no achievement of ours, but reflects an openness to receive, because we know we need one another on the journey of human life. The Way of Christ is the path we seek to follow, and together we endeavour to be a unique expression of Christ’s body for others.
Our minister is available to anyone in the wider community who seek support and encouragement in their spiritual journey. This includes ceremonies to mark important life passages and events – Christenings, Dedications, Marriages (all committed couples permitted by law to marry), House Blessings, Funerals, Unveilings. Language: English, Tongan and Te Reo Maori.
We respect the faith and tikanga of local hāpū, and value our Methodist links with Ngāti Uru of Whangaroa. We work together with other churches in Kaeo and Kerikeri and relate positively to other faiths, particularly through the annual Week of Prayer for World Peace.
Christ-centred and community-facing, our focus is on practical Christianity
We take seriously the Bible and its challenge to do justice, love mercy and walk humbly with our God.
It is part of our core business to care, and therefore to respond to needs among us and in our wider community with friendship, spiritual support and practical help. We support the local food bank and church social services.
Kaeo-Kerikeri Union Parish serves two local communities – the Kaeo/Whangaroa area and the Kerikeri/Waimate North/Waipapa/Purerua area – and two church denominations – Methodist and Presbyterian. As a Union Parish we operate under the Procedures for Cooperative Ventures.
